Model Description
Yamaha’s XJR1300 retro roadster, which went into production in 1998, actually began life four years earlier as the slightly smaller XJR1200. In this 1188cc form, the big, burly, old school style beast lacked quite the potency of its successor, with 98bhp instead of the later bike’s 106, but in virtually every other respect is identical and thus, as a used buy, can offer even greater value. With timeless, ‘old school’ looks, impressive durability and easy, pleasing performance the big XJR still has a lot going for it. While an ‘SP’ version with uprated, Ohlins suspension and few detail changes, is more desirable still.
