Genuine Husqvarna Parts & Spares
Husqvarna built its first motorcycle in 1903 and so is currently the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer with uninterrupted production. Although, as a smaller, off-road-focused brand, is less well-known than some rivals.
Husqvarna’s origins are in Sweden. It was founded in 1689 to produce armaments, built its first motorized bicycle in 1903 and was successful in road racing in the 1930s.
In the 1950s Husqvarna’s light, single-cylinder machines became popular in the growing sport of motocross and in the 1960s and ‘70s was the global leader winning 14 world championships.
After being bought by Electrolux in 1977, Husqvarna motorcycles went into decline (Husqvarna chainsaws and power tools became a separate company) and was sold first to Italy’s Cagiva (in 1987), who began to revive their off-road fortunes, then BMW (in 2007) and finally KTM in 2013.
Under BMW ownership Husqvarna began making road motorcycles again with the Nuda 900 based on BMW’s F800 twin, a move repeated under KTM with the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 and 701 single cylinder roadsters and its enduro-based supermotos.
But off-road machines are the heart of Husqvarna and its range of enduro (including the two-stroke TE 250 and 300 and four-stroke FE 250 and 450) and motocross machines (including the two-stroke TC 250 and four-stroke FC 250 and 350) remain world championship contenders.
