Model Description
Introduced in 2001, Honda’s big, Firestorm V-twin-engined successor to the Africa Twin never quite matched its predecessor’s appeal or success – despite being a good enough all round adventure bike. The detuned, 996cc engine produced 93bhp and plenty of grunt; the big, tall chassis was comfortable and decently appointed and there was plenty of luggage capacity, too. On the downside it wasn’t very economical and couldn’t match some rivals’ fuel range, its handling was slightly top heavy and its looks were deemed a little plain and, when there were plenty of slightly better rivals around – not least BMW’s class-leading R1100/1150GS – that wasn’t quite good enough and led to its deletion in 2010.
