Model Description
If the 1997 Firestorm was Honda’s Ducati-rivalling V-twin for the road, it’s VTR1000SP-1 was it’s Ducati-rivalling V-twin for the track – and specifically for the World Superbike championship. The all-new, HRC-built, 999cc V-twin was pure racer – producing 133bhp with ultra compact dimensions and delivering exquisite handling – all enough for Colin Edwards to be crowned WSB champ first time out in 2000. The succeeding SP-2 from 2002 was even better still with 4bhp extra and improved fuelling. Cheap for an HRC machine, SP-2 prices are now on the rise but a bargain SP-1 is still possible.
