Model Description
Slightly belated, 1832cc successor to the GL1500 was significantly better than its predecessor in every way when it was introduced in 2001. With more power (116bhp) and torque, a lighter, stronger, twin beam aluminum chassis plus updated styling and equipment, the new ‘18’ deservedly took over the mantle of ‘definitive full-dresser’ – but it wasn’t as big a game-changer. Now aging itself and lacking more recent rivals’ luxuries and electronics (as best demonstrated by BMW’s hugely impressive K1600GTL) the GL18 is now a little behind the times, but it’s still more than capable and retains a huge and loyal following.
