Model Description
Aprilia may today be best known for its family of superbike and super naked V4s but its original success in the 1980s and 1990s was down to its performance, lightweight two-strokes, particularly 125s. The RS125 is probably its most famous and successful machine of all. First launched in 1992 as a successor to Aprilia’s previous AF1, the RS was modeled on the Italian firm’s 125 GP racers and was simply the most extreme, exotic and desirable 125 sportster ever produced. The first version came with a liquid-cooled, two-stroke, single cylinder motor producing a screaming 34bhp, inverted forks, a gorgeous aluminium twin beam frame and grand prix replica bodywork. Successors, from the 1997 restyle, to the 1999 ‘Rossi replica’ to the more angular 2006 machine, became more desirable still.
