Model Description
Produced during the Italian firm’s troubled, ‘wilderness’ years of the 1990s which ultimately resulted in the historic Italian firm being taken over first by Aprilia and then, in turn, Piaggio, the Daytona was a misguided attempt at producing a Guzzi sportster based on the ‘Dr John’ racer which claimed some success at Daytona’s ‘Battle of the Twins’ – hence the name. The result is a heavyweight, old school, sports-orientated V-twin that, strictly speaking, doesn’t come anywhere near the Ducati 916 or Yamaha R1 of the day due to just 102bhp and slow, heavy steering, yet is still a well-equipped, characterful machine.
